The most I ever put on one was 250,000 miles. I always said I would have it crushed, melted, and put in the front yard. Alas, I sold it to my daughter for $500 to give her a sense of value. She still had three wrecks in three months (no injuries, thank goodness!)

Plodding is a good thing. To succeed in sales, one must only survive until Monday.

[...] A great example is “Poorly Paid Insects” where I note that the “annual value of insect services in the US is around US$57 billion.” Then ask you to think about and thank someone who can be categorized as “Who is helping in the background?” http://www.salesautopsy.com/blog/poorly-paid-insects/2006/08/18/ [...]

Good question.

You would think the Internet enhanced his ability to find people to trade with.

Why not try to track the guy down and ask him?

I've had great success tracking down authors whose books had an impact on me. Doing this over the last 20+ years really inspired me to write (I'm on my third book now, not including The Sales Comic Book - www.salescomics.com).

Let me know if you find him and find out.

I was just curious how much was spent on travel to make the trades? Flying around Canada and the US can't be too terribly economical, can it?

Just a question the whole story is great though, incredible all the different dreams fulfilled.

Great example.

And a good rule of thumb in selling is "Never ask a question that can be answered by the word NO!"

Love the description of the response as pavlovian.
